LA Times Crossword – “Schwalterations”

Hey people!

My crossword “Schwalterations” is up on the LA Times site, and is being published in syndication all over the country today! If your local paper carries the Sunday LAT, you can find my name in there!

If your paper doesn’t carry it, you can also give it a shot online at the following link:

Leave me a comment and let me know how you do on it 😀

  1. Greetings,

I thoroughly enjoyed working your puzzle in The Springfield Sunday Republican (Massachusetts).

The one answer that seemed to break your schwa pattern was 3 down=corpsofnation – I can’t figure out the “un-schwaed” word!.
(of for the schwa ) (corpsenation?)
That said-I went to the LA Times and verified it!

Thanks for a very enjoyable puzzle!

  2. Well, this is one of the strangest clues I’ve ever seen Jared!!! I’ve completed the puzzle, but still have no CLUE what the clue means!! Perhaps you could give me a hint? Just call me dimwit. 🙂

  3. Thank you for the comments! 🙂

I was a bit surprised that so many puzzle and word lovers were unfamiliar with the “schwa” concept. There’s a pretty good explanation of how it works here:

And Peter, the “un-schwaed” CORPS OF NATION was meant to sound like the word CORONATION.
