that makes you frolic in the rain?

Drawn out of your earthy home
by the enticing patter of the drops?

What is it like
when you come to the horrible realization:
Crisping in the sun,
Ravaged by birds,
Trod upon by shoes?

Can’t you see the silliness
before you venture out onto the pavement?

Don’t you understand the future consequences
of your risky behavior?

We aren’t so different,
you and I.
