Crash.

So in honor of Labor Day I took a day off of blogging yesterday, and a day off of any real work today.   Judge if you must.

But before you do, let me explain.

Saturday started out well.  My brother took his GRE that day, and I had the house to myself for the morning.  I went for a walk and successfully shook the blues that were nagging at me when I first woke up.  When I got home it was right down to business.  I worked pretty consistently from 9 in the morning until 3:30 that afternoon.  At the end of it I had a completely adequate draft of PL that I sent out to Jared and a couple of other well-trusted amigos.  And just in time to go to work.

On my way home from work that night, I got into a car accident.  I’ve been in two accidents in my entire life, and they were BOTH hit and runs.  Christ.  I managed to get a license plate number, but of course it’s Labor Day weekend and I won’t be able to file my report until tomorrow.  Remember how on Friday I finally transferred my car insurance so that I’m covered in California?   Not a moment too soon.

The whole thing really shook me up, mainly because I’m not very comfortable or familiar with the area.  I white knuckled it the entire drive home, going 55 on the interstate.  By the time I got back I had mascara smeared from eyebrows to jaw line.  My bro’s girlfriend fed me cookies though and that super helped.

So I decided to be kind to myself for the rest of the weekend.  On Sunday morning, the roomies and I went into Sac for the farmers market (note, if you ever stumble upon a sweet French prune, EAT IT YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY).  We made some great scores and then drove over for my most anticipated portion of the day – the Japanese grocery store.  HEAVEN.

We grabbed lunch and a margarita before heading home.  I spent the remainder of the night rewriting my ballad for class on Wednesday.  It doesn’t suck as much as it did before.  I crumpled up the first two drafts and threw them away.  But still, that doesn’t unwrite them.  Maybe that sort of thing comes with time.

I’m hoping to make it through SU tonight so I can cross that off my mini-list.  However, I finally managed to get my hands on Heathers.  If you have not seen this movie, stop reading right now and go fix your life.

Anyway, we’ll see what happens.
